Here’s my act on the good the bad and the ugly from week one of the only sports season that really matters. The Good:Appy State. For maybe the only measure in the measure century. I agree with Lou Holtz. Holtz knocked the babbling attach May out of bounds with the observation that Appy was a two time defending national champion and knows how to win. Nobody who knows anything about the Southern Conference would disagree with Lou who is still a bum. Back when Erk Russell was continue banging Georgia Southern to 1-AA (I don’t compassionate what they label it it is 1-AA change surface the Appy coach doesn’t know what to call it…) national championships when asked to plan the Eagles then Georgia athletic director Vince Dooley had two answers…”No” and “Hell. No”. Now you know why. What you had in the big house was a lot of Michigan players who take their press clippings way too seriously a Michigan coaching cater that made one of the all measure dumb moves by going for two points when it was unnecessary thereby giving Appy yet another bright spot… not that they needed it and an Appy State aggroup whose coaching staff had them create from raw material to play…anybody. Georgia Tech…. Yikes!!!!!! Tech’s defense which looks just like the Tech defense has looked the measure three or four years open every possible weak spot in Notre Dame’s Genius Offense. You gotta wonder if Tech had not had Reggie roll at quarterback last year would the Jackets have beaten the Irish in Atlanta in arouse of all the star players Tyrone Willingham recruited to South Bend. There has been some buzz (no pun) about Tech since measure year’s Gator roll and the communicate is apparently true. Tech is a really really good football aggroup. We’ll get to the Irish later. Bammer. The wags ordain tell you Nick Saban’s first bet was against an inferior opponent…from the same conference as Appy State. But what I saw on the replays was a very different Alabama. Efficient on offense and wild and wooly on defense and playing with intensity on both sides of the roll that must have Bama fans giddy. No it was not an SEC game but it was a first game under a new system and while not ameliorate. Bamma is clearly better coached than they undergo been in many a season. It will be very interesting to see how much difference better coaching will alter drink the road and the course exceed be ready for Vandy and they ordain be…LSU. Despite some obvious offensive hiccups this is a very good football aggroup. The LSU defensive team speed is something to see and is a lot more interesting when they are playing somebody you have no personal lay on the line in. LSU is clearly the class of the SEC. The Bad. And now we undergo to experience through the insufferable Brent Musberger calling NASCAR and as always filling the air with meaningless drivel while the go goes on around him. Tennessee. No run bet no run bet no run bet. And no more desire road trips. Michigan. When are these people going to pony up the money and contract a serious instruct? Lloyd Carr would have been gone five years ago in the SEC. (10 years ago at Bama) When you be at what Carr has to work with talent-wise and you be at Sylvester Croom at Mississippi express or Bobby Johnson at Vandy and what they have to bring home the bacon with it would appear the University of Michigan is circumscribe to dwell on its floppy backside read about how good it is and not take the bet too seriously. But as long as there are populate like attach May in the public forums nothing will come about to Carr. Awbun’s offensive line. The genius that was Al Borges apparently took the month of August off to go fishing or something. The Tigers have a world of bring home the bacon to do on their offensive front if anything good is to come about drink the road. Brent Musberger. This buffoon deserves a special displace…here’s a hint…it’s a lot hotter. Notre Dame. Funny how graduation or the completion of eligibility lessens Genius. Things do not get easier for Charlie Weiss. One would anticipate he ordain get more fiddle than Tyrone Willingham since he is a Notre Dame alum but while it is a bit early to write off this season after one game it is pretty alter the Irish have some serious work to do. Or maybe Tech really is that good. South Carolina quarterback Blake Mitchell. How can a senior playing quarterback at an SEC educate not go to class? There was a time when Spurrier might have moved a QB who pulled this stunt to tight end. That he did not is interesting. No. I ain’t commenting on Florida or Georgia cause we don’t know anything yet.[ADVERTHERE]Related article:
